The Joy of Being Heavenly-Minded

"Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God." Colossians 3:1 (NIV)

The Joy of Being Heavenly-Minded

Like you, I’ve found that heavenly-minded people are happy people. When I focus on heaven, when I think about heaven and live for heaven, it frees me to enjoy life here on earth so much more. Why? Because when our minds are set on eternity, we take the things of this world a whole lot less seriously.

Even when things seem to go wrong, it can be a delightful disillusionment. Being disillusioned with the world isn’t a bad thing—it can help us shift our focus to what truly matters: heaven. When we stop putting all our hope in the things of this world, we become free to enjoy life with a lighter heart, knowing that our ultimate joy is in the Lord.

So, if you’re feeling disillusioned today, rejoice! It’s an opportunity to become more heavenly-minded, to let go of the weight of this world and focus more on the joy of eternity. It’s a wondrous truth: when you live for heaven, you enjoy life on earth more fully.

Being heavenly-minded allows us to take life’s challenges with grace, knowing that our hope is not here, but in Christ. So today, if you find yourself feeling disillusioned or weighed down, see it as a gift—a reminder to look upward and live for heaven.

In Jesus' name, be blessed today. Amen.
