Genesis 12: Parents
Journey of Faith
Genesis 12:1 (New Living Translation)
"The Lord had said to Abram, 'Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you.'"
As a family, we’ve lived in six states. Texas, Colorado, California, Michigan, Tennessee, and now Florida. The experience is the same every time. Each time the feeling of adventure awaits, but uncertainty lingers.
Such was Abram's predicament in Genesis 12:1 when God commanded him to leave everything familiar and journey into the unknown. This required an incredible amount of faith in God's promise and His guidance.
As parents, we have the privilege of nurturing this faith in our children's hearts. Teach them that, like Abram, they may not always know where God is leading them, but they can always trust His guiding hand. Help them understand that our Heavenly Father often calls us out of our comfort zones to bless us and make us a blessing to others.
The next time you embark on a road trip, remember Abram's journey with your child. Use it as an opportunity to talk about faith, trust, and God's promises. Guide them to embrace life's adventures, having faith in God's unfailing guidance and love.
