Righteous in the Face of Temptation

Genesis 39:9 (New Living Translation)
"No one here has more authority than I do. He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God."

As teenagers, we often encounter situations where we're tempted to do what's easy rather than what's right. It might be cheating on a test, gossiping about a classmate, or giving in to peer pressure.

In Genesis 39, Joseph faced a huge temptation. Potipar's wife repeatedly attempted to seduce him. But instead of giving in, Joseph stood firm. He understood the gravity of the sin, recognizing that it was not only against Potipar but also against God.

Joseph chose righteousness over momentary pleasure, displaying a strong character that we should aspire to emulate. This doesn't mean it will always be easy. Joseph's choice landed him in prison. However, in the grand scheme of things, it elevated him to a place of honor in Egypt and in the lineage of Christ.

We too can ask God for the strength to resist temptation and make choices that honor Him, even when it's difficult.

Pause & Pray:

1. Pray for God's strength to resist temptations and make choices that honor Him.
2. Ask for wisdom and discernment to recognize situations that could lead you astray.
3. Pray for forgiveness and grace when you stumble, and the resolve to get back up and keep striving for righteousness.
