Genesis 40: Students
Patience in Uncertainty
Genesis 40:8 (New Living Translation) - "And they replied, 'We both had dreams last night, but no one can tell us what they mean.' 'Interpreting dreams is God’s business,' Joseph replied. 'Go ahead and tell me your dreams.'"
Exams looming, applications pending, friendships fluctuating – it can sometimes feel like you're living in a world of uncertainty, much like Joseph in Genesis 40. He found himself in prison, wondering what would become of him.
In this stressful situation, Joseph encounters two men troubled by their dreams. Even while dealing with his own uncertainty, Joseph acknowledges that understanding and controlling the future is "God's business". He chose to trust in God and serve others, interpreting their dreams.
In our lives too, there will be many things outside of our control. Instead of worrying, we can learn from Joseph. Trust that God holds the future, serve others, and patiently wait for His plan to unfold. Uncertainty might feel like a prison, but remember, with God, we are never truly confined.
Pause & Pray:
1. Pray for patience and trust in God’s perfect timing during periods of uncertainty.
2. Ask God for the grace to serve others, even in your own times of trial.
3. Seek God’s peace to overcome worry about the future, knowing He holds it in His hands.
